Dr Sotiris Nikolopoulos received his BA degree in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia, Greece, in 1988, his MAcc degree in Accountancy and MSc degree in Computer Science, both from the University of Dundee, UK, in 1991 and 1993, respectively, and his PhD degree in Dynamic Combination of Artificial Neural Networks for Economic Problems from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, in 2010.
He has worked as a Financial Analyst for various Brokerage firms, and for more than ten years he was affiliated with the Department of Strategic Planning and Research Division of National Bank of Greece, where he was held a Senior Economist position and involved in the areas of risk management, analysis of international capital markets, forecasting economic variables & trends, evaluation of computerized systems for economic modelling, and development of dynamic risk valuation models.
In 2011 he joined the Department of Accountancy of the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaly, Greece, where he is currently an assistant professor. His research interests mainly include financial analysis, system analysis and forecasting, portfolio analysis, risk management, artificial intelligence in finance and accounting, impact of new technologies in finance and accounting.
